Christopher W. Chestney

Funeral Director

Christopher W. Chestney was the Owner and Funeral Director of Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home in Rhinebeck, NY, from 1985 until he sold the business in February 2024. Alongside his father, Gerald Chestney, he continued a long tradition of compassionate service to the Northern Dutchess community.

A graduate of Pine Plains Central Schools, Chris studied at SUNY Plattsburgh and the Simmons School of Mortuary Science in Syracuse. He and his wife, Carol, live in Rhinebeck and have three children.

Since selling the funeral home, Chris has stepped back from daily operations to focus on traveling with Carol and enjoying activities like tennis, golf, and skiing.

Carra Kelly

Funeral Director

Carra Kelly (née Bartles) is the Owner and Resident Manager of Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home in Rhinebeck, NY. A lifelong member of the Rhinebeck community, Carra joined the funeral home staff in 2014 and returned full-time in 2015 after completing her residency with both Peck and Peck Funeral Homes in Pine Plains and Copake, NY, and Dapson-Chestney. In February 2024, she purchased the funeral home, continuing its long-standing tradition of local, compassionate service.

Carra is a graduate of Rhinebeck High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from SUNY Buffalo State College. She later completed her funeral service education through the Mortuary Science Program at Hudson Valley Community College.

She lives in the area with her husband Jamie and is deeply committed to the well-being of her community. Carra is an active member of the Rhinebeck Rotary Club, the Northern Dutchess Women’s Softball League, and Rhinebeck Responds. She also participates in international missionary and humanitarian work, extending her dedication to service beyond local borders.
