Born April 14, 1933 in Bronx, New York he was the son of Fred and Katherine (Kohler) Peckman.

On October 15, 1960 he married Rosalie Denigris. They lived and loved for almost 55 years together, Mrs. Peckman passed away in September 2015.

Fred grew up in the Pelham Bay Park area of the Bronx, attending primary school at P.S. 71 then moving onto Samuel Gompers vocational school. After graduating he joined the Air Force and had active duty during the Korean War from 1952-1956 as an airplane mechanic. Upon leaving the military he began a 35 year career with IBM initially pounding the streets of Manhattan fixing typewriters (where he met his wife, swearing she intentionally broke her typewriter often to get him in to repair it) then relocating up to Poughkeepsie, helping to design & maintain electronic testing equipment. He moved his family north to Red Oaks Mill, where he & Rosalie created a loving home in which they raised their 2 daughters. He retired and moved to Rhinebeck, then Red Hook to be closer to his children and grandchildren. Fred was an avid hiker, camper and traveler, tinkerer and repairman of all things harboring a special love for Volkswagens. He is remembered as a kind and humorous man whose greatest joy was time spent with his family and friends.

Fred is survived by his daughters Dina (Robert) Fennell of Red Hook and Linda (William) Dubilier of Lake Hill; grandchildren Emma, Connor, Thea, and Brody; brother William (Susan) Peckmann of Rhinebeck; sister-in-law Maria Valcich of Florida; brother-in-law John Denigris of California; as well as many other dear family members.
