Rhinebeck - Marianne Gabler, 81, of Rhinebeck passed away at Albany Medical Center on Friday, December 23, 2016 beside her loving husband.
Born in Kingston, PA on December 24, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Norman and Mary (Zawatski) Karmilowicz.
Marianne was a graduate of Cornell University where she studied Liberal Arts.
In September of 1957 in Ithaca, NY she married Ralph Gabler. The two had met on a blind date and shared almost 60 years together. Mr. Gabler survives at home.
Marianne spent much of her time working for the Mid Hudson Kennel Club where she was the past president and Director of Training. Marianne was able to bring one of her dogs, Cheroki, to several nursing homes in the area for use as a Therapy Dog.
In addition to her husband, Marianne is survived by her most recent rescue dog, Yogi, as well as close family friends Joseph J. and Barbara Chupay - so much more than neighbors - and Ronnie, Ed, and Ruth Schroeder - a dear friendship made through man's best friend.
She was predeceased by her close friend Gail Pace.
Memorial calling hours will be held at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck, NY, on Saturday, January 7, 2017 from 4 to 7 PM.
There are no services.
Memorial contributions in honor of Marianne can be made to the Mid Hudson Kennel Club or the ASPCA.
